The Cincinnati Germania Society's 2003 trip to Hungary.

Unfortunately, when I originally set this album up in 2003, I didn't comment many of the photos and I no longer remember where a lot of them were taken. Sorry...

The Autogrill Hotel: This was our first Hotel. it was nice, but it was basically a "Rest Area" Hotel, situated along a freeway, so we couldnt go anywhere without a vehicle.

Our room in the Autogrill: It was a nice room. However, it was unseasonably warm (over 90) and the room had no "real" air conditioning....

Memorial to those who died in the 1956 revolution against the Soviet Union.: On October 23, 1956, revolutionists against Soviet rule tore out the Soviet crest in the middle of the Hungarian flag. Two days later, they were executed by a Soviet firing squad. This stands as a memorial to those who died.

A statue of Ferenc Deák: Ferenc Deák as a Minister who, in 1867, facilitated the creating the Austrian-Hungarian Empire.

Budapest: There were many beautiful buildings. But many, such as this one, are in need of repair.

Nyugati train station: The Nyugati train station is Budapert's oldest. It was built in 1877.

A McDonald's in the Nyugati train station: McDonald's has remodeled part of the Nyugati train station (and did a nice job!).

Restaraunt with a view: Great food, great location, but lousy service. Plus, they ripped us off by demanding tips.

The Vadaspark restaraunt.: This was a typical "folklore" meal, which consisted of three courses: soup, main course & dessert.

The Big Green Bus: John, our bus driver, was an excellent driver. he manuvered that huge bus through spots that I wouldnt have tried with a normal sized car!

The city of Gyõr: I liked the tile work on the roof. It looks alot like the reed roofs on traditional homes.

Pharmacy Sign: I believe the name on the shop was something like the "Golden Ship Pharmacy".

Gyõr building: This region is famous for "inventing" the style of housing where there are "extensions" on the building corners.

Flea Market: It was just like most Flea Markets in the US, mostly full of junk. But there were some neat items, and some great bargains.

Cookies...: There was a sort of "kids fair" going on outside the restaraunt, that had crafts for the kids.
